As stated above, no it doesn't use FICO scoring.
One thing I'll add is that any time FICO scoring IS used from any company such as a monitoring service, creditor, lender etc. it will specifically state that it's used.  Usually if you scroll down to the bottom of the page where you see your score, it will say in a small print paragraph if a FICO model is used in the score provided.

Conversely, on the CreditKarma site, immediately to the right of the big credit score numbers,, there is a statement "About Your Credit Scores" and "Calculated using VantageScore 3.0..."

Below that there are "Learn More" tabs, "About VantageScore 3.0" and "Understanding Credit Score Differences".

Re: Credit Karma and FICO Scoring

The problem for FICO is they have become almost like what Band-Aid is to bandages or

what Xerox was (is still) for some to making a copy

Folks don't even think they just assume....the difference being for a long time Fico was the

credit score and de facto FICO meant credit scoring  but as ours have said, especially since trying to sue

and losing to Vantage (Exp &TU) in regard to even having an alternative score....so their trademark FICO

is more front and center, b/c it can't be assumed now that there is another 'credit score'.

IMO the biggest value of CK isn't the score but that they actually send a free full report...the other free scores,

just give just that...a score and a quick dashboard, nice to get but the CK allows for the most detail of the freebies...
