Credit Pulled for an Apartment

I'm looking for a new apartment to live in. I've been good about keeping my credit inquiries down and they're all about to expire from my credit report. The most recent apt I have been inquiring about claims that the pull they do would not affect my credit report because its "different".

Can this possibly be true, or do I need to stick to my stance about proving a credit report/score but not allowing them to pull it.

Thanks for the help

Might be a soft pull... you should contact the agency they use and ask directly.

Re: Credit Pulled for an Apartment

It is usually a hard pull. Often times it is done by a third party so the company leasing you it doesn't even do it themselves, it is sent to an background investigations type firm online and processed for them.

Depending on how bureaucratic the company is, they might not allow you to use your own report. It certainly is worth a try.

In the long run, one more inquiry will not kill you.
