Credit Score Bingo...

Sometimes I swear I feel like it's just dang random: I apped and got a unsecured loan via my FCU, and while I didnt get dinged right away, I did after using half to pay off CC.

So far only TU is reporting as a positive  3point rise, while the other two, especially EX, hits me for a 7 to 20 point drop.

Huh.

Re: Credit Score Bingo...

You took a hit on new loan reporting, probably 100% or close on utilization. The majority of those points will be regained after loan is below 8.9%. You will get points back as it lowers though. Did all credit cards report 0%? If so, that was an all accounts reporting 0 penalty. Allowing one card to report $10 would avoid penalty, and will rebound using AZEO, or All Zero Except One.

Re: Credit Score Bingo...

Have the credit cards reported yet? If they went from high UTI to low, I would expect that to gain more points than the new loan would cost.

I've gotten three consolidation loans over the years and my scores improved each time due to the CC individual and aggregate UTI decreasing.

Scores: March 21 FICO 8: EX 810, TU 808, EQ 813
AoOA: closed: 40 years, open: 30 years; AAoA: 14 years

Re: Credit Score Bingo...

It's completely normal for a new account to drop a credit score.  Inquiry and the new account itself reporting will drop AoYA and AAoA.  The 3 points you gained on TU likely had nothing to do with the new account.
