Re: Credit Score Question

My Capital One card is a secured card. I'd rather not open 2 new accounts and then close 2. I feel that would damage my credit terribly. My score is very low because 7 years ago I opened 2 cc accounts and never paid a dime on either one. I've been good since. My house is paid for. My 2014 CX-5 I paid cash for. I really don't need good credit at the moment or for the foreseeable future, just looking at making it better. I do have a hard inquiry dropping in July and 2 more dropping off next year. The medical collection debt was bs because I was fighting with my insurance company when they sent it. I paid it immediately but that doesn't help.

Re: Credit Score Question

"Did you get the 520 from the Discover site?  If I were you before those accounts were closed, I'd see about opening a minimum balance ($500 I think) BOFA secured card and if you can swing it, stuff $500 in a share account at Alliant and take out a share secured installment loan on that as well and then prepay it vis a vis this way:" It was 590. Don't make me feel so bad Smiley Very Happy Looking at the link you sent, it doesn't specify which savings account to open with Alliant. They have high-rate, supplemental and Kidz Klub. The link doesn't specify which one to open either.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found the link that leads to high-rate savings.
