I recently had American Express and Capital One slash my credit limits. I hadn't checked my FICO scores in a while so I don't know what the impact to them was. But what I want to know is what would cause them to do this all of a sudden? I haven't had any late payments and I haven't taken on any new credit in more than year. The only thing that happened was CitiBank increased my interest from less than around 5% to over 23% because I missed a payment by a week. And Capital One did the same because I was short making the minimum payment by $4.00 (paid $100 instead of $104). But that was almost a year ago. Why now?
