Credit score drop

Merry Christmas!
I am seeing a huge drop in my scores ( 18 - 10 points) across the board. I have checked my reports, the balance has gone down to 1% from 3%, the rest is identical. I have no clue what I did to deserve this drop in my scores...please advice.
Thanks.

Re: Credit score drop

Hi OP & Merry Xmas

If those are FICO scores that dropped, double check to ensure nothing has changed.

Did you pay off an auto or another installment loan?

Did you request a CLI that you thought would be a SP but wasn’t?

Did an old dispute return?

Did you miscalculate and all your accounts CCs dropped to 0 instead of 1%?

Did an old acct age off?

It’s something. Recheck your reports.

Re: Credit score drop

- Something has changed in your file. Might not be immediately available to the naked eye, but it's happened. And it might be several factors, not just one.

- While I strongly discourage the use of CK for ANYTHING scores related, they do have a pretty useful education tool called "see what's changed" under the "accounts" option that's been helpful for me. It outlines anything on two of the bureaus that's deviated from the original. Consequently giving you an opportunity to at least narrow it down.

Best of luck figuring it out. Sorry for the dip. Hopefully it's something that will easily bounce back.

Re: Credit score drop

I have checked for any and all factors that could be potentially affecting my scores. CK shows no changes. No hard pulls for CLI, no loan paid off, no account dropping off etc. I have really no clue.

18 points is not a huge drop.  I wouldn't waste any time thinking about it.

If the OP is looking at CK for his reports, I fear he's also referencing CK scores for his score drops.  If that's the case, it's not even worth worrying about, as they aren't FICO scores.

If it's an 18 point FICO score drop, I'd want to know the reason why.  If it's not a FICO score drop, I agree with no point thinking about it.

Re: Credit score drop

I get the transunion from Boa and discover. Experian from amex. So there is a 10-18 point drop on those 2 with only a reduction in utilization. I am not sure if Equifax has had a change.

Those are usually time-delayed.
