FICO tells people I'm a bigger credit risk now!
Awww, Lucifer, it's gonna be ok. Your accounts will age some, time will
go by and your new account will be a year before you know it. Perhaps with your file,
you'll have a decent increase at 6 months instead of a year. Don't stress about hitting
800, it'll happen before you know it. Practice AZEO? That may give you a small boost.
I don't care WHAT MyFico says! You're Numero Uno to me! ![]()
@Anonymous wrote:Since the OP new credit required an inquire and since in order to affect his FICO the account would have to appear on his report therefore affecting his account age, his score was lowered. Yes, it's file dependent so a well aged file could see a very minor point dip. A minor point dip is still a dip. So according to FICO consumer with a 780 prior to two new accounts who is now 775 is more likely to have a late payment. So unless you can open new accounts without inquiries (possible) and have it not affect your account age (not possible) the new accounts did make him more likely in the eyes of FICO, to be late in the next 24 months, no matter how minute the possibility.
Even if a new account lowers your account age, it doesn't have to lower your score. It's perfectly possible to open an account and see no score drop at all, even if your AAoA and AoYA drop, so long as they don't cross a threshold.
But, that doesn't really matter, as Fico score changes and risk are not directly proportionate point for point. When risk is evaluated, groups of people with scores within a certain range are put together. So, a group of 10k people with scores within a (say) 30 point range could be deemed to be of equal risk. That being said, a 3-5 point change in either direction may not have any bearing on an expected change in risk.

Who says we can't have fun with......credit.
Starting Score: F8 3xxFrom Bank of America this morning......yet another attack on my credit managing abilities:
FICO® Scores consider how recently a person opened a new credit account as shown on their credit report. Your score was impacted because of the time since you opened a new account.
I'm going to have to drink a lot of Fireballs to offset the feeling it gives me.
Ming you I get junk mail by the bunch offering me credit cards and other credit products but if I actually take them up on it - BAMMMMMMMMMM, SLAPPPP, WHAPP...... You dummy - why did you open a new account !!!! You're riskier and we'll tell everyone for years that you did this awful dirty thing !!!!

Just before entering the Garden......much earlier this year. March? Before that? Years.
But still, I am now less worthy in their eyes.
I am a broken hearted Devil.
