Decline letter showing way different score?

I applied for a card while my myfico EQ was at 640 or so, and the decline letter said that my credit score was 576? What gives? I thought myfico was your actual score. Even after the inquiry hit my report it isn't showing nearly that low.

The creditor is using a different scoring model.

Re: Decline letter showing way different score?

Well that sucks. Thanks for your response. Is there a thread that shows who uses what we see as our main score?

Re: Decline letter showing way different score?

There is not one master thread that I am aware of that will show the information.

You can google credit pulls database but that is not as up to date as you might hope.

If you post who you applied with, I imgaine someone on the board will know which score they use. You can also google 'who does XXXXX pull in Indiana?' and that will often give you an indication.

Now we just have to know, who did you apply to?

Re: Decline letter showing way different score?

The decline letter should show what cra the score was from, Myfico shows various fico scores such as bankcard 08. Fico 08 is the most common scoring model used but there are many versions of Fico scores. Throw in Vantage scores and it's really a mess.

TU fico08=824 06/16/24
EX fico08=815 06/16/24
EQ fico09=809 06/16/24
EX fico09=799 06/16/24
EQ fico bankcard08=838 06/16/24
TU Fico Bankcard 08=847 06/16/24
EQ NG1 fico=802 04/17/21
EQ Resilience index score=58 03/09/21
Unknown score from EX=784 used by Cap1 07/10/20

Re: Decline letter showing way different score?

I applied to PenFeds card (Promise I think) and auto refinance in the same pull. Disappointed. I hadn't applied for anything since the last time we tried to refinance our 10% interest loan. She said she spoke to the loan officer, but it didn't matter. Such a bummer.

Penfed uses Nextgen scores.  It is an old scoring model that goes up to 950.

Re: Decline letter showing way different score?

Dangit. Does anyone happen to know who uses the most generous model for card approval?

You may want to try Capital One...they offer cards for multiple credit profiles. Credit One will approve almost anyone, but I would not recomend them.

Re: Decline letter showing way different score?

Go for NFCU they usually approve anyone and have great reviews on here. I'm going to app with them as soon as my CapOne Secured and Discover Secured help me boost my scores a bit.
