Differences in my Experian and TransUnion reports..what to do?

Hi all after consolidating my credit card debt to one card at 1.99% balance transer rate until Feb 2010, I purchased my FICO score summaries and noticed some differences but I don't know what to do about them and I was looking for some help if you could answer some of my questions.

My Equifax score was 765 and my TransUnion 744. Is there usually that much of a discrepancy in scores? if not could these differences I have found caused them?

My Equifax report says that since I have opened a new account 9 months ago (Citibank MC) that is hurting my score but the account was opened in April of 2008 so it is over 1 year old and they have it listed on my report as being opened in 4/2008 so I don't know what I can do about that.  TransUnion doesn't mention a new account hurting my score on their report.

Equifax says i have an established credit history of 11 years and 8 months being my oldest account so that is a helping my score,  but TransUnion lists my short credit history of 8 years and 2 months hurting my score....this is confusing because all of the same accounts are listed with the same dates...is there anything that I can do about that?

Equifax lists the limited use of my available revolving credit as helping my score by being 22% (beleive me i know this isn't great but I am working on those balances!).  TransUnion lists my heavy use of revloving credit at 27% as hurting my scores.  I think I have found the discrepancy here...my Equifax report lists an overdraft protection account with a $5000 credit limit that is associated to checking account I have through my Ameriprise investments and IRA.  This line of credit does not show up on my TransUnion report.  Is there a way to tell Transunion about this account... should I even tell transunion about this account?

I'm not sure what to do here and any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Re: Differences in my Experian and TransUnion reports..what to do?

Both formulas are different. Small differences in score are OK.

The open date is based on not when you opened or even applied for the CC, but when it first reported (usually at the date you received your first statement). In the scheme of things, the changing the account back by 3 months won't help your score any. It may temporarily, but once it reads one year old, it won't matter anymore.

You may want to look over each account again. It is helpful to list it on a spreadsheet each account w/ the assoc. opened dates for both CRAs. You'll likely find your culprit. Looking at your next paragraph, the OD account is on EQ but not TU. Could that be it? You may also see on page 2 and 3 your AAoA under length of history. Even a 1 yr difference can throw your scores in different directions.

Not every creditor reports to all 3. Talking to TU won't get you too far. I'd call the OC and ask if they wouldn't mind reporting to all 3.

Re: Differences in my Experian and TransUnion reports..what to do?

Hi, thanks for moving my thread and thanks for your reply.  I need some help with your abbreviations.. what does AAoA and OC stand for?

Also, I have to write TransUnion a letter on a different matter because they are showing my student loans being more than they are because when I consolidated them years ago, they never listed the accounts as closed...so you don't think if i mention the Ameriprise account and give them the information on it, they won't add it?

thanks again!
