Yes, if reporting to your CR and that CC isn't listed as disputed or isn't closed with a $0 balance.

You probably have to be married, assuming you have no credit, and even then this can take years, which means you will just have to Bootstrap it if being an authorized user doesn't help.    If you have been denied a secured card and have no other hope, get Store cards---------anything that reports to the Credit bureaus, even the local Fruit stand, the Lemon aid stand.

You will have to do some gumshoe work, because you will have to go to different stores in person to see what reports to the credit bureaus,  and if you can qualify, because you do not want them doing a Hard Pull unless they can say with 100% certainty you will be approved. Otherwise if you apply online to 200 stores and get denied, you will have enough inquires to start you off with a credit score in the 300ds before you get your first card because inquires make you look desparate.  If nobody can say for certain you will be approved for any kind of card, do not apply. Do nothing and leave it at that.  You may just have to be patient, and wait for the economy to improve, and for lenders to relax their standards a bit because no credit is always better than bad credit.

Once you get your first storecard, then you can work your way up to secured cards that extend lines of credit, and from that point on, age out the accounts, keep a utilization rate of under 7%, and let the score go up on its own. There is no quick fix to good credit.

No offense but that's absurd.  You do not have to be married to the person who's card you're being added to or adding to as an AU.  Not one store clerk, manager, supervisor, or what not is gonna be able to give you a specific answer on your approval status...because they are not associated with that.  There are secured cards available that do not require a credit check (open sky) or a hard pull.    There are no quick fixes to good credit, but with persistence and knowledge, you can possibly put yourself in a good position quicker.   And as far as inquiries, their damage is short term and minimal....anybody apping 200 times and being denied 200 times has no business apping anyway.
