Does being denied show up on you CR?

Wife got declined on a credit card app, and she says she's worried since it shows up as it being declined on you CR after you apply and get denied.

Is this true?

I didn't think it was.  I thought it only shows inquiries!

not in so many words. the inquiry will not say declined, it will show up as an inquiry shown to others. what implies you were declined is that a card from that creditor doesn't show up after the inquiry. its subjective, not literal asserssion that you were declined.

But for sure there isn't anything saying "Applied ... DENIED"!?

For sure, there's not.

And for the other post, once you apply for a card (and get the inq), it will pretty much always report, whether you decide that you want the account or not.

Keep in mind that the creditor not always reports the account to the same CRA from which they pulled your report. It is not always feasible, nor reliable to assume that just because you got an enquiry, you should show an account from the pulling creditor.

Now that does not make sense. Why in the world would someone request credit and accept the ding if they didn't want it? I mean seriously, you would have to be credit suicidal do pull crap like that.

They are going to make the more reasonable assumption that you were declined and not indulge fantasies about changing your mind after willfully asking for credit and going through the whole process.

ditto, no actual applied then denied notation, just inquiry shows up.
