Does it matter when during month I apply for credit card?

Does it matter at what time during the month I apply for a credit card?  It is near end of month now, should I wait until a week or so into next month to apply?  I guess what I'm trying to ask is since I'm trying to rebuild credit and wish to get another card, is it more beneficial to wait until 2nd week of February so that cards I already have will have a chance to report Januarys payments to the CRAs?
Thought it might give me a better chance at getting approved.  Any thoughts?

Re: Does it matter when during month I apply for credit card?

I would definitely wait until all the payments you made in January, are posted in all 3 credit reports, if it drops your utilization significantly.

WHEN they post is another matter. I've notice that some of my accounts have not updated my mid December payments, which is aggravating.

I'm not sure if it really makes any difference when during the month is the best time to apply, imo. The most important thing is that your CR's are all current and up to date.

You want your score to be as high as possible, so get your util as low as possible before you apply!
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

What are your feeling on Capital One?  I've been getting offers since the bankruptcy, seems like good offer now.  Minimum $1000 limit, no annual fee, decent rate(doesn't matter since wont carry enough to matter).  Anyone had bad experiences? should I stay away?

Only 2 bad things IMO about Cap1-

They pull all 3 CRA's
They do not change you from one level card to another w/o re-apping.

WAMU has been great to me-

the score hit will be temporary.
IF you are not going to be applying for credit in the next 3 to 6 months- a short term FICO hit is nothing to worry about- .

Re: Does it matter when during month I apply for credit card?

Hey everyone, just want to let you know I did in fact receive the Capital One card and to my surprise I was approved for $5,000 limit!  Yahoo!!!!  Sure beats the 300 dollar limits I was previously offered!
Thanks again for all the advice
