The consensus around here is that utilization has no memory and I've believed it. Now I'm not so sure. I had all my scores over 800 as in my sig, I have been running less than 2% utilization with a 1/3 reporting a balance with a 6% utilization on the one card. This had all my scores over 800. I got my timing off and in June they all reported a small balance and my scores went down into the 780-790 range on all three. I've since gone back to 1/3 reporting and the 6% card is now at 5%, but neither TU or EX has moved back up a single point. Does it take time to recover after getting hit with the number of revolvers reporting hit? I always thought from what I've read that they should have all recovered right when the revolvers got back in line. I don't know about EQ as I don't have a report for that one and don't feel like buying one just for this.
No there is nothing else new on any of my reports. The only thing that has changed is the utilization factors.
It took about a month for my scores and reason codes to settle after paying everything off. It was all being reported correctly.
@dynamicvb I do agree with @Brian_Earl_Spilner too it took around a month or so for things to pop back when I was up and played a bit then corrected it to before to see the changes so it wasn't automatic and some corrected faster than others I want to say my EQ was the one that was snail slow but I don't remember which one was the lagging one now.
It is my understanding as stated above that no, util has no memory once it settles back to the norm....but I do want to mention that FICO’s new version (FICO 10) will have a running 24 month util memory if I understand it correctly.
ETA: @Anonymous would most likely be able to confirm or correct me regarding FICO 10 and util memory.
@Anonymous Hmmmm now that would be interesting....I think that will hurt people more than help while they figure things out with their credit (talking about myself) LMAO mine looks like a roller coaster since I have been working and changing and adding and taking off things lol but I would be interested to know if that is the case for the upcoming.
Delinquencies will hurt more w/FICO 10, too....per the blog article on Experian below.

@Anonymous Interesting indeed. Not worried about lates or collections just my Utilization being crazy up and down lol.
@Anonymous Yes fico version 10T will have a memory of 24 months, as opposed to regular version 10 which will not, is my understanding.
Currently it has no memory and the time it takes for your score to go back is usually waiting on the creditors to report and then waiting on CRAs to update, assuming no other changes.
