EQ dropped 51 points!! I am sooo confused!!!!!

I am going to try and keep this short but it may not happen!

5/9/09-2 accounts with Capital One update to show $0 balance.  Pulled score on Myfico and it is 628.

5/15/09 Pull new score on myfico to see if it had increased due to utilization going down.  New score 577!!

Myfico report is showing the Cap1 accounts as "repo/foreclosure"  I called myfico and they state this is why the drop in score.  Score analysis now says most recent late is one month ago.

Call Cap1 they say they have not done any updates since 5/5 when they updated balance to $0.  Myfico says I need to dispute with Cap1 or EQ.  EQ report on EQ website shows as CO  (same as it has been for 5 years)

Myfico says the new update says that it is now 90+ days late.  I went back and looked at report on EQ from 5/9 (day I pulled score and was 628)  It shows as CO for month of April...still not making sense since nothing on account has changed.  I have looked at my EQ report for every day from 5/9 until today...no changes!

EQ says it is an issue with FICO and that they don't make the scores.  FICO says dispute with Cap1 or EQ as they only write the formula and don't make the scores either.  Cap1 says not their fault.

HELP!!!!  How can myfico report show repo/foreclosure when EQ isn't showing that???

The only difference I see is that charge off amount changed from $1400 to $0.  I don't understand what has triggered the "repo/foreclosure" rating or the drop in points.  They both showed CO in April 2009 on payment history.  I just didn't copy it on this one

That's a head-scratcher! I'm going to try to find someone who might have some insight on this, and in the meantime, I hope you'll get more replies here.

Re: EQ dropped 51 points!! I am sooo confused!!!!!

Is this a open account? If so I think maybe equifax might have put the wrong narrative code in the tradeline.

If so you need to call cap-1 and get your payment history and a letter that your not behind and this is a open account and dispute it at equifax as a naritive code keyed wrong.

Re: EQ dropped 51 points!! I am sooo confused!!!!!

It looks like eq is delibrately distorting information on ca when they are paid. i had the same problem about two weeks ago. I paid a ca and eq updated the account and added 120 days late. I also received an alert from true credit saying I have a new account in my eq report and when i bought a new fico, my score dropped by almost 40 points because eq srewed up. Luckily for me,, i sent good will and the account vanished within two days. i truely believe eq is delibrately doing this. I hate those bastards. Fight it medicgrrl, 50 points is a killer.

I sent a GW email last night.  I am praying they help me out.  The accounts will drop off in 2 years according to my reports.  When they did this to you did it only affect your EQ score?  I am hoping that EX and TU are still ok. I haven't seen any changes on those reports.   I am waiting to hear back from the LO on Monday to let me know if my other scores have dropped also.

Re: EQ dropped 51 points!! I am sooo confused!!!!!

Yes it affected only my eq score because it was being reported on tu and exp as ca. Eq called it ca, but it is listed under negative accounts, whatever that means. I am pretty sure it is reported the same way on your eq. It was also being reported as open account after i paid it. i got my points back to 661 after the deletion. my eq was 661 when the account was unpaid; after payment, it droped to 636 when the 120 lates were added and then went back up to 661 after it got deleted. Eq is weird on how they report collections. If your gw doesn't work, dispute it. I was prepared to send them two reports showing th account with/without lates and challenge them on their erroneous reporting, but luckily for me my gw worked. Btw, exp fako jumped up 72 points after the deletion.:smileywink:

Re: EQ dropped 51 points!! I am sooo confused!!!!!

Let me see if I understand...

You owed $1400+ on a closed/charged off account.

You paid the  $1400 after x amount of time.

Your score dropped after payment.

If that's the case, then it sounds like it just updated to a recently derogatory account after being dormant for a while. If this is the case, then I'm afraid it's reporting correctly.

If this isn't the case, which I hope it isn't, then I'm not sure. Good luck!
