Hi I hope I can get some help from the experts here. My Experian score has been stuck at 692 since August. I have paid down my credit card debt significantly and the score does not move. I actually had it at 704 but there were 2 changes from the alert that I got that cost me 10 points! I paid down a credit card from $1994 to %152.(83% down to 6%) and I charged my Care credit card $582 (0 to 8%) Ive since paid down 4 cards to 0 balance. No change. I paid $100 off the care credit balance and also raised the credit limit to $15k bringing its utl to 2%. No change. I have 17 credit card accounts and 1 recent auto loan. Only 2 credit card with a balance. Care credit $582 2%. and Discover $600 48%, This is the first time Ive carried a balance since I got the card back on March. Its been always 0 at statement. Is using the care credit card that damaging to a score? Also i should have my discover card at least under 30% but better under 6%. My overall credit limit is $50k util 2% Car loan is very recent from July so thats like at 99% i think. Equifax score is 695. Transunion 762.

1. No, using the Care Credit card did not damage your score.
2. Having the Discover card at 48% does damage your score. You will improve your score by getting that to 28%.
OP, you have posted in the past about having a car repo and some lates in your file. Are they still on there?
I have one late from Jan 2014 due to fall off in a few months. And one reedemed repo. It was opened and voluntary surrendered in the summer of 2017, got it back a couple of months later and paid off June 2020. It has redeemed repo on Experian. On Equifax and Transunion, there is nothing on the comments or specifications of redeemed or repossession by "words". But they show up on the payment history. VS for June and July 2017. Equifax updated the account to voluntary surrendered when i paid off the loan on June 2020. It previously was only reporting one late payment on it insteaf of a repo. Lost 14 points when it updayed it along with reporting being closed. The funny thing is that Transunion isn't factoring in the repo? It doesn't show up on myfico report. Its 100% clean, not even the late payment from capital one card from 2014. But they are on my annual credit report. Do you have an idea why?
Your utilization is fine, so that's not what's severely hindering your score. Yes you could tweak a few things there but you're talking minor point gains. Negative information on your CR is what's holding your score back probably 70-100 points. I would suggest focusing more on that factor rather than your utilization at this point.
So basically the repo is stopping me from having a 800 score??? I never thought I'd be able to reach it without a mortgage. I don't mean to watch my credit score like a hawk lol but sometimes is a little addictive and thought it was strange Experian hasn't moved at all. I also can't get my annual credit report from the site anymore. It says they're having technical difficulties. I plan to gargen for at least 2 years since I opened 10 accounts in the last year. Thank you all for reading my post and thank you for the ones that commented on it. I guess I'll be in the clear by 2024, the next election! 😁😁😁
