Equifax: Suddenly No Report No Score

I have had a 3B suscription since October and have had reports and scores for every single month except this one. When I tried to update my report, a message came up saying it was unble to fufill my request.

I spoke with MyFico and explained that I have had open tradelines faithfully reporting since October but now I couldnt access a new report or score. It was suggested that I call Eqifax and I did. They attempted to tell me I had no tradelines, that maybe all of the credit card companies stopped reporting (ALL 8 of them), and then decided that my file was too long and thats why I was unable to pull up a new report or score. This response didnt make sense to me so I requested to speak to a supervisor, who only suggested that I send in a drivers license, social security card and proof from each bank that I have tradelines reporting.

Anyone else ever had scores and reports for months and then suddenly have neither?

Starting Scores Nov 17: 581(EQ) 571(TU) 563(EX)

Re: Equifax: Suddenly No Report No Score

You are right that the probability that 8 different creditors would have decided at the same time to stop sending monthly updates to Equifax is extremely low.  Moreover, even if they had, it would take six consecutive months of that before it would cause a FICO score to be unable to be produced.

The problem is that EQ is suddenly unable to see any of your accounts.  The technical name for this is a Split File.  Here is a google search that will give you many articles to read about SFs.  I encourage you to take your time and read several of these articles.  Read them slowly, take notes, and read comments on them if they are blog posts.

You'll be in a better position to talk with Equifax after you do that.  (The articles may suggest ways that EQ can fix it.)  Do you have a copy of your Equifax report from a couple months ago?  You might have one from (say) Credit Karma or AnnualCreditReport.com -- for example.  Being able to send EQ a copy of any earlier report will help convince them that only a short while ago you had many accounts appearing on your report.

In situations like this it is best to do a lot of research prior to the talk with the CRA -- remember that (unfortunately) CRA reps will know almost nothing about how credit reporting works or what things can go wrong on their end.  It's a bit like seeing the doctor about an uncommon condition.  Sadly the patient has to do a lot of rsearch on his own to explain to the doc what is likely going on and what the doc needs to prescribe to fix it.

Wait until your next 3B report before you do anything drastic.

I've been here a few years, my EQ report was not available in December, but came back in the next 3B report.

Re: Equifax: Suddenly No Report No Score

Hi Inverse.  Was your experience that something glitchy happened on the myFICO end that one month?

I ask because that does not appear to be our OP's situation.  He can see his other two bureaus, just not EQ.  And he has reached out to Equifax and they say that he has no files of any kind.

So it sounds like the problem may be on the bureau's end (e.g. a possible split file) and not a problem with the myFICO Ultimate software.  I may be missing something though... be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Re: Equifax: Suddenly No Report No Score

My experience was exactly the same as the OPs except I did not reach out to myFICO or EQ.

I got the exact same message as the OP.

I went to CK and everything looked ok, so I moved on.

Next 3B report everything was back where it had been.

Re: Equifax: Suddenly No Report No Score

I agree 100% that our OP should exhaust simple easy solutions first.  Enrolling in Credit Karma and seeing whether it produces an Equifax report with all the familiar accounts should be very high priority if our OP has not yet done it.  Attempting to pull the the EQ report at ACR should be the step after that if CK comes up with nothing.
