Equifax and Utliization

Hello Friends,

My Equifax score is about 25 points lower than both TU/EX.  It's at 653 compared to the others at 677/675 to the others.  My total utilization of revolving debt is about 19% on about 20k worth of available credit.  When I play with the simulator and pay down all the debt to zero, which I am going to be doing  in the next week or so, the higher scores stay pretty much the same and Equifax jumps 25 point to catch up with the others.  I realize that the simulator is not a perfect science but is it known out there that EQ places a much higher value on a lower utlization than the others?

Re: Equifax and Utliization

Which scores and simulators are you using? In FICO world, paying all your cards to zero, AZ (all zero), will result in a 15-20 point drop across the board. IMO, stay away from all simulators or at least take them with a grain of salt.

Re: Equifax and Utliization

Like I said most if not all simulators are inaccurate, that includes the one from myFico, they tend to add more confusion for newcomers in most instances. As for why your EQ is lower than others, it's actually not unusual for slight variations between bureaus on identical data (assuming your EQ is identical to others), I find that the cleaner the reports and the closer you get to 800, the more the scores converge.
