Equifax "Date Maj. Delinquency First Reported"

I have a TL reporting on EQ as "Included in BK", and it says DOFD of 7/07 but "Date Major Delinquency 1st Reported" of 12/07.   Apparently they updated something in Dec. 07.

My question is:   Will this hurt my score, or will it look at the DOFD?  The DOLA is empty.

Boscoe, hi, this is rrockinggramma.  LOL  Anyway I talked to Eq about this very thing today.  They go by DOFD.  So if that date is right, then that is how it will report.  I challenged Cap One because they were discharged in 3/01.  And they verified that as correct and Eq changed the DOFD for me back to 3/01.

Thanks for the response.  I don't really care what EQ thinks.  It is FICO that I am concerned about....Do you know?

Bump..

Does anyone know, or is this piece still in the "black box"?

Just as it relates to EQ.

Thanks.

Re: Equifax "Date Maj. Delinquency First Reported"

the date of first delinquency is the date used to determine fall off from your credit report date.  The older the date, the less the impact on the score. the update should not have had any impact on the score

The DOFD is used for CRTP.  The DOLA is used by FICO.

Since DOLA is empty, I have no idea how FICO would interpret that.

Re: Equifax "Date Maj. Delinquency First Reported"

Isn't this related to EQ always reporting the DOLA or DOFD in the wrong field? As I recall, there's some EQ quirk about that, just a matter of where they enter the data, or something.

If that's what it is, my understanding is that the EQ FICO scoring formula takes that into account, and it is scored properly.

We need SmartCookie or HappyDays or one of the other collections warriors to come through here. I know that I've seen similar questions before, always about EQ.

FICO's: EQ 781 - TU 793 - EX 779 (from PSECU) - Done credit hunting; having fun with credit gardening. - EQ 590 on 5/14/2007

I think it's that the field that's called DOFD on TU and EX is actually called DOLA on EQ, but it's not related to the field called DOLA on TU and EX.

Whew!  Got that? Smiley Tongue

That's why the CRTP is determined by DOFD on TU EX, but by DOLA on EQ.

I think.

(Suddenly in the mood for some alphabet soup.)
