Good morning,
I have four credit cards that look like this.
1. Open Sky $300
2. Assent $400
3. First Progress $500
4. NFCU Cash Rewards $3k
all cards have been at zero balance exect for opensky which was reporting at $3. I made a payment this month to pay the card off. Now it reported to zero along with my other cards. That made my Experian drop from 672 to 652 this morning. Will the rest of my scores drop as well? My First Progress will soon report and it is at zero, should I go buy something that I need of course to have it report a balance when it reports? I was at 1 percent utilization. Should I spend about $300 to get 10% utilization to have my score increase to get my 20 points back?

@Anonymous you are apparently experiencing the AZ point loss, all you should have to do is allow any balance to report, five bucks is enough to recover the points.

Yes

If you care about the score in the short run, you should let one card report a balance of at least $10 or so. And then pay it off after the statement cuts, rather than before.
I was at 1 percent utilization. Should I spend about $300 to get 10% utilization to have my score increase to get my 20 points back?
Absolutely not. You just need to have around $10 report on one card.

@Anonymous Thanks for posting . . . now I know NOT to pay all my cards to zero and leave at least a small balance on one of them!!!

@babygirl1256 just a hair more complicated, make sure it's a bankcard with a credit limit under $31,000. ![]()

It is strange, on my credit reports it already stated that I was at 0% utilization. I did not think it was a big deal to pay the 3 dollars. Is it true that if I have 9% utilization it is the best for optimization?

Ok, I am on it, thanks for your advice.
@Anonymous technically it would be anything under 9% utilization for the one card.

Thank you. So on that card I have a CL of $500. I just paid the balance down to $100. It will report on Wed. I am zeroed out on my other cards with a total CL of 4200. Should I pay down my card balance down to $45 dollars so that it meets the 9% utilization?
Thank you in advance.
