Experian vs Equifax changes.

This just baffles the heck out of me and I hope somebody here knows more than I do.  In the past two days I've gotten four alerts from myFico.  Two from Equifax reports and two from Experian.  Here's what baffles me....  They both show a New Account (I added another Cap One) and they both show a Balance Change (I paid down my first Cap One balance to Zero).  BUT, Experian gives me a net score change of +69 while Equifax shows a -5 !???  Same exact transactions , two completely different score  changes !!  Anybody have a clue....???

Why are you baffled?. Yes both show new account. Both show decrease. Still does not mean exact same data on both bureaus . Liook at reports. Not scores.

I did look at both reports.  They both show exactly the same data and same changes, but one score went up 69 points .....and one went DOWN 5.  SAME changes on everything on both bureaus.... except the score !  THAT's why I'm baffled.....

Ok. I realize you're talking about same changes. But is exact same data on both reports?  I'm not talking changes. Example. Collection on 1. No collection on other. Side by side. Don't mistake nim not talking changes that triggered alert.

Re: Experian vs Equifax changes.

Equifax likes balance activity on cards. Have had score watch for awhile. When all balances 0, score drops. If carry outside the usual limit for one card, score drops. 0 that balance, let another card report balance, score goes up. And yes, for some strange reason, TU and EX don't react the same way.

HOWEVER, I have an older account still reporting as paid AND closed by consumer on EQ, though not on other reports, (in fact, the reps I speak to can't understand why). Therefore, my average age of account a bit longer for fico models with eq than with the other two.

Why does this matter? Your score fluctuates with the bucket you are in. Have great score with ex because considered a newer account bucket. Eq will have to wait for early exclusion to match ex in report data, but my bucket will be off. Your bucket is also determined by mix and age of other accounts besides cc's. This can account for the differences in scores.

Now, someone correct me if wrong, but is it not the CRA that determines the bucket, or is it fico?

What are the actual scores in question?

The CRAs are all using a scoring system developed by FICO but each CRA gets to customize the system to their own liking. I would say that means it's a combination of both that determine a persons bucket but FICO's formula proably plays the bigger roll while the CRA has the final say.
