FICO questions

Hello allSmiley Happy

I am new to this board and love the fact that you guys are so interested in helping each other re: credit problems!

I have a few concerns that I am dying to have answered! I am looking to fix my credit asap, am looking to purchase a home in the next 6 months- 1 yr, and trying desperately to clean up my credit!!

I have several credit cards with low credit limits, a dozen or so store credit cards, an auto loan ~389/month, student loans ~546/month.  The only derogatories I have on my credit is 1 late payment fm a store credit card in 2004, and 1 late on my student loan of 30-days back in Jan 06 because they left it out during consolidation.  I also have an unpaid collection fm a utility company (electric co) back in 2006. I was looking to pay the collection but unsure whether it will increase my score to have it listed as a paid collection?  They are not willing to delete it, because they said it is accurate information.

My current credit score (median) is 570.

What are your thoughts? How quickly will I be able to increase my credit score?
Also, will it hurt me to subscribe to a credit score watch or will it hurt me to monitor my credit?

Re: FICO questions

GW the lates. DV the CA and dispute with each CRA, but be willing to PFD. Don't take "its been verified" as a final answer. DV again if necessary. Same with the GW, send it over and over and over and go up the chain of command. Someone will eventually say "yes".

Bring your Util% under 10%.
