FICO score drop

Using my credit card free offer of monthly FICO score I have tracked my score for a couple of years.  Last month it dropped from 820 to 740!!  I had no change in life style or credit usage.  For four weeks I have tried to get an explanation but have been told by Transunion they only provied the info to the credit card - WAMU - and then WAMU creates the score.  Of course, that seems absurd but I am completly stymied in my effort to get answers.  Both Trans Union and Washington Mutual just insist the other is to blame.

Any ideas for me???

Thanx . . . .

Re: FICO score drop

Hi fasscars, welcome to the forum! There's a wealth of information here for you to help you understand every facit of credit.

Firstly this really belongs in Understanding Your FICO Scores forum.

Your free scores that you get from WaMu is a wonderful benchmark for you to judge your credit card weighted FICO scores on a month to month basis.

With such a drastic score drop I highly suggest that you pull your credit report from TransUnion and scores score from right here at myFiCO, and carefully review each line item in your credit report for any derogatory things, and inaccuracies that may exist. Something is going on in your credit report and you need to know what it is that is effecting your score so drastically.

You can order your FICO reports listed under "Products" in the black menu bar at top of page. Be sure and print out the report.

Re: FICO score drop

I do know WAMU recently impelmented the newer version of the TU score (the 2004 version)

Either way- that is a big drop.

Re: FICO score drop

Hey fasscars. I am with the others on this one. It is probably due to TU Classic '04, but that is too huge. I would break out the magnifying glass, monocle and fine-toothed comb for that one. GL
