Well why would they provide a vantage 3.0? it is a worthless score then if banks are using a FICO score, is it to scare us to believe that our score is lower then it actually is? I don't get it.
Thanks
Mark
Because Vantage scores are free, FICO scores you gotta pay for from the big 3.
But I do pay. Equifax $19.95 a month for a family plan, Experian $19.95 a month, and TU $24.95 a month so am I not entitled to my REAL FICO scores that the banks use? so the agencies are charging me yet providing me with a worthless score? I am I correct on this??
Thanks
Mark
Wow, you're spending WAAAAY too much for mostly FAKO scores. My recommendation would be to cancel all three of those subscriptions and then either subscribe to credit.com's ExtraCredit service (all 28 FICO scores monthly) for $24.99 per month, or the service available here for $39.95 per month for the Premier Plan.
Chapter 13:
I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

I can only comment on EXP as I have the 19.99 plan and those are true FICO scores .
So it is the old bait and switch at TU and EQ?? they make you think they are providing you with a real score only now to find out after paying them all these years that they are selling me a worthless stack of goods. I work hard for my money as most do and I do not like to be ripped off. I will contact the two agencies today and demand my real FICO scores. If they can not provide it I will cancel the accounts. Most of my credit cards offer free scores so any givin time of the month I can access them for free. it is a befefit of having a lot of credit cards.
Thanks
Mark

I subscribe to the free versions of both Equifax and TransUnion monitoring. Equifax gives me a monthly score, and TransUnion wants me to pay for theirs. In both cases, the bureaus are upfront that the scores provided are Vantage.
I agree that Vantage scores aren't useful, however, which is why I also have a paid Experian membership. I get daily access to my Experian credit report (along with a few different FICO scores), plus FICO 8 scores/reports for Equifax and TransUnion every 90 days. I'm not buying a house in the near future, so every 90 days is more than adequate. I get alerts if anything changes on any of my reports, and I can check their content with the free services (which is all that really matters).

I mean, some banks do use vanatage scores in their lending/credit decisions. They are not "fake" scores, just scores that most banks do not use, but they are starting to gain some traction.
I have also been seeing lately where some banks consider *both* your vantage and Fico scores in credit decisions.
You can get most vantage 3.0 scores for free, so I definitely would not pay for it. At least definitely EQ and TU (TU most commonly). EX VS 3.0 I have only been able to get for having a Self Lender account in the past or for running a pre-approval through FNBO (which gives you your EX F8 and EX VS3.0).
Your VS 4.0, that primarily Synchrony bank uses, I cannot find anywhere, except if you have an account with Sync, and it is only your TU VS4.0, which is the score they mostly, but not exclusively, use.
There are also internal scores that different banks use that you will not have access to at all unless tied to a credit deicsion and they provide it to you.
Honestly, I would ditch MyEquifax, as their reports are really kind of wonky (not sure how else to describe, but they have not been very thorough for me) and get them through annual credit report for free weekly (no scores, but much better reports).

VS scores are also *real* and are used, though not as widely. They are valid algorithms, just like any FICO score.
I think the real 'value' for a lot of those programs is additional monitoring, not the scores themselves, but you can find alternative sources for a lot of it, and a single sub would serve you well for a lot less money.
I was using that free weekly score offer they set up to last through this virus crisis and never was able to get one from Equifax. The other two went through OK. Equifax wanted me to fill out a form and mail it to them. I did and got postal mail back saying they couldn't offer it to me because I had gotten it already that year. Hadn't, but oh well.

OK. I understand now. I called and "ditched" EQ and TU. I am a member of CreditKarma I guess I can get my fake scores there. "sheesh" one of them even says on CK that it updates daily. So agreed, why pay for it
Thanks again
