Hello
I got a Bank of America credit card more than one year ago. I got citicard credit card a years ago. I obtein them with my ITIN number. Both are secured. However i dont have any FICO number. From the credit bureau i can obtain any information about my account, and my credit history.
I am foreigner, dont have SSN. I want know if any body who have a credit card in USA, can have FICO scor, or if you have ITIN numer, you cant have credit scor.
Thank you
CRA reporting only requires, as a minimum, a personal identifier. It does not require an SSN for credit reporting. Trade agreements, such as NAFTA, assure equal treatment beyond strict national borders.
By far, the best personal identifier, to assure accuracy of reporting, is use of your SSN, for that is always unique.
Use of other identifiers, such as name and address, are usually unique, but not always. John Smith and John Smith, Jr. living at the same address, are not unique unless Jr is also reported. I am not sure about TINs as to their uniqueness.
If the creditor accepts your personal identifier, and uses that to identify their reporting to the CRAs,then you should get a credit score once the account has reported for at least six months.
Yeas, but i got Credit Card in USA. The credit card address is in USA...every thing is like other US person, except the ITIN... so i dont know why i cant follow my credit scor...i think i need to use some lawer to fix this probleme...
You should be able to get FICO score.
Your credit reporting, and thus scoring, issue is very simple.
Is the creditor reporting to a CRA? Until the creditor reports to a CRA, and the reporting has been on file with them for at least six months, it wont score with FICO.
No, there is NO requriement for an SSN for the creditor to report, just a form of personal identification. TIN does this.
However, no creditor is ever, ever, requried under any federal law to report to a CRA, It is their option.
They are most probably concerned with implications of the imposition of the Patriot Act. It is extreme legislatiion that involves, amongst many things, the estallisment of banking transactiions in the U.S, for non-citizens, and non-residents. Some creditors may be putting extreme scrutiny and caution on accounts that dont show SSN or US residency addresses as sources.
You may have to deal with that scrutiny.
You need to contact the creditor, and ask why they are not reporting. If they choose, they can use your TIN as an identifier, and the CRA wont contest that.
You dont need a lawyer. You need to pick up the phone and talk to your creditor. Ask them why the delay in reporting......
After a loat of fax and telephone..........
None of the 3 bureau can identify me. I think they use a software who use the SSN to identify peopel. However i have ITIN number, so it dosent work. They say i can may be have the credit report on my mailing addresse, but i want it on line...
