Factor in Fico Score

On my Transunion fico score it indicated that I had too many open & closed credit accounts. Can anyone elaborate why closed accounts have an impact on the score like that? Currently I have 8 open revolving, & 3 installment. I have a combination of 24 closed revolving & installment accounts.

It really doesn't, ignore it Smiley Happy.  The TU score here is outdated, I don't know many members who have gotten that sort of notice on either FICO '04 / '08 and it was at a far higher number IIRC.  Also there are some messages that should simply be shrugged at with high score levels which you might be at: short of max they have to give you reason and "too many accounts" is like "too many inquiries", if it's non-zero on the report, it cannot be argued... or sued over presumably in this day and age.

Closed accounts factor into FICO for payment history and AAOA purposes same as any open accounts; may also factor into mix of credit as well though there's some "active tradeline" flag that we're trying to figure out what precisely that is but we don't have enough anecdotal information at this point to really pin that one down: hoping one good thing that comes out of the myFICO Equifax FICO 8 change is that we might get more data on that.
