I just applied for a land loan and my lender told me that my Fair Isaac was 219. I tried to get him to explain what that meant, because I understood that FICO stood for Fair Isaac Co.? But he told me that they use my Equifax score, which was 696, then they calculate a Fair Isaac from that, and it's on a scale up to 350. Anyone else heard of this, is he giving me a line of crap? He originally told me he could finance 80% of the appraised value of the land, but then when he pulled my credit and they got that 219 score, he could only finance 75%. So I'm pretty ticked and really don't understand his rational. I plan on going to his office tomorrow, and ask to see the equation they use, and try and get the 80%. Any ammo from you all is much appreciated!
