Fico Question

Ok, I need as much input as possible on this one. Does anyone know, how accurate is Discover Fico score and how up to date is it? Is it the same as Walmart free Fico score? how up to date are these scores. I am wondering, if an application is submitted right now, will the credit card company see the same Fico score that is showing in TransUnion via Discover? Walmart? or will they see a more updated score. I know scores get updated according to a schedule, but will that information be the information they creditors currently see? Will the scores from Discover be the same as if I pulled it from TransUnion directly thank you!

Re: Fico Question

There is a date listed when your FICO score was updated from both Wal Mart and Discover.  This is the date that the score is accurate and usually updates about once/month.  If you app for something they will pull your CR and anything that has changed between then and now will affect your score.

Re: Fico Question

In other words, if I want to app for something I should do it before the scores update correct? My Discover score was updated on the 15th of this month therefore; that should be the score that will be pulled until it gets updated next month correct?

+1 exactly. the date for each is listed when they pulled it. and that will be it. example. my wally says since april 20th. 9 days old. and my Discover says since April 19th. 10 days. old that is all you need to know right there.

Re: Fico Question

Too. add. scores dont just update monthly. they can update anytime. that date is just saying the last time discover or walmart looked at it. it could have changed the next day. so there is no way to be 100 percent sure. but you will be in the ball park regardless of the date.

Re: Fico Question

Mortalito you are looking at it wrong. You score only updates once a month that discover and wal mart show you. You score can change from day to day or even hour to hour depending on when things report and when you app for something they will have whatever your score is at that exact second that you app, not the last time your score updated with discover or wal mart

Re: Fico Question

Got it! So, would TransUnion have the latest? as in TransUnion the C.B itself? rather than a third party like Discover or Walmart that only updates once per month?

Re: Fico Question

Transunion doesn't give true fico scores I believe they are vantage scores but the actual report will be accurate. You can pull a report from here (myfico) if you really want to be sure but your discover score should be pretty close unless you think something big happened since your last update

Not only is it a Vantage score, it's an OLD version of Vantage.

Re: Fico Question

A FICO score is a snapshot in time. Everytime your score is pulled they recalculate your score from what data is on your reports that very minute. If something should change in the next minute, for the good or bad, and somebody pulls your score again an hour later the score will be different.

From what I understand, the average consumer's score has the potential to change 4 to 5 times a month.

Starting Score: EQ 653 6/21/12
Current Score: EQ 817 3/10/20 - EX 820 3/13/20 - TU 825 3/03/20
