I recently filed BK and was discharged in Aug. 2013. In Aug. 2013, I applied for a Fingurhut account and got approved with a $200 limit. In Sept. 2013, I applied for a Dell account and got approved with a $3,000 limit; approved for a Credit One Visa with $300 limit; approved for a Barclays NFL Raiders Visa with a $500 limit. In Feb. 2014, I applied for Barclays Apple Visa and got approved with a $1,200. I currently only have a balance on Dell for $140 and Raider Visa for $450 (I usually charge this to the limit during a two week period, but pay it off in full twice each month). In March my scorewatch score dropped to 612 (decreased 12 points). This is the second time the score has decreased. I don't plan on applying for anymore credit, I think I have enough already, but I would like by FICO score to increase. Does anyone have any suggestions on increasing my FICO score?
Thanks,
Rob
The BK on your report will limit your scores for some time.
Beyond that, I'd suggest controlling your utilization, by letting only one card report a small balance. There are lots of threads around here that describe this approach in detail.
Another thing you can do is limit your applications for new credit, and instead, work with what you have for a while. New credit can lower your scores by the hard pulls, new tradelines, and reduced AAoA hits.
Thanks, definitely will follow the suggestions.
