Fico scoring so confusing...

I was so excited Saturday when I got an alert +9pts woo hoo 605!  Then a few minutes ago -9. And it doesn't specify why.  I'm gonna have to buy another report to find out huh?

ps..did the trials of true credit (on 30 days now)  CCT has been cancelled already...

Have you been pulling your own report a lot? Sometimes when an EQ score goes up and then down by the identical amount, it indicates a split file, especially if it keeps happening. You might want to hold off and see if it happens again.

Do you know of a reason why it would have gone up 9 points on Saturday? (CC updating as paid off, account hitting a birthday, etc.) If you weren't expecting an increase, I'd be gently worrying about a split.

Re: Fico scoring so confusing...

The last time I pulled it was in Feb. Since then, I paid off a $9700 loan...and brought my util down to about 30% from 75%.

I'm supposed to be having a collection removed. They told me so anyway. I'm beginning to thing that isn't going to happen now.  And I'm having very old leins removed that should have been removed years ago.  3 are stil "under investigation"  I'm going to have to call EQ and find out what the hold up is..

The only thing I did was post on here Friday night about my concerns of scorewatch even working due to lack of activity and then boom....next day up 9pts.

Now back to square 1.  I would have thought dropping my util would have given me the 9.  (and KEPT me the 9)

Every single GW letter has been rejected and I'm really depressed now.....Maybe I should forget about the whole credit thing and revisit my report in say 7 yrs.....grrr.

Maybe I'll turn it over to Lexington and let them do the dirty work...

Re: Fico scoring so confusing...

When you talk about your util dropping, you don't mean from paying off the loan, do you? Because that was installment util, not revolving util, and it barely affects your scores. If you paid off CC's as well, that should help your scores, but it does seem to take forever sometimes for the lenders to update your reports with the new balances. Until the reports update, your scores won't change.

Any spare cash should go to revolving (CC) debt first.

And every time you pull a credit report from anywhere, here or another credit monitoring service, it adds a soft inq to your files. It doesn't affect your scores, but it can start to overload your EQ file, which is particularly fragile.

eta: almost forgot, it used to be that the mention of Lex Law and their buddies would have bombed a post off the forums. Now you can post that you're considering them, but you can't advocate using them.

And really, I've yet to hear from anyone who was happy with them. We seem to wind up with a lot of their dissatisfied customers here on the forums. Smiley Tongue

Re: Fico scoring so confusing...

It was cc util.  I sold my horse trailer, so all the spare cash I had paid off my CCs. The remaining is a card of my husbands (separated) so I have no desire to pay his bills.  Since it is a mortgage overflow CC, I can't have my name removed...i'm just stuck with it.

I will stop pulling and just use my free pulls from SW and Quarterly.  Or not...

Thanks for your help!
