Please excuse my ignorance and I'm pretty sure I will find the answer if I "search", but I have a simple question. Is your Fico score different than the big 3? The reason why I'm asking is that I notice a lot of people refer to them as "my Fico scores" rather than separate the 4 individual scores Like say my "Fico" score on this site is significantly lower than my big 3 (by 100 points). And while my big 3 continue to rise, my "Fico" has dropped (as stated on my thread in mortgage forum). Thanks in advance.
This site has some good info.
Your FICO score is your "Big 3". I know it gets confusing. Your FICO score is not an entity of itself. It's actually a score generated for your CRs from EQ,TU and EX.
Each of the 3 major CRs offer a score. But their scores are not used by lenders. That's why they are called FAKOS.
FICO takes the information from the 3 CRs and generates a score for each one. That's why you have FICO scores from each of the CRs.
FICO does not supply any information to your CR, they only calculate a score based on what is found on each of those CRs.
I saw another one of your posts...aside from the above, it's a branding issue. FICO is a brand name for credit scores, just like Xerox was in the day for photocopies, and Band-aids for bandages and Kool-aid for sugary flavored water with regards to modern branding. You have 3 FICO score, one each from Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian and the places to get these scores are very limited with myFICO.com and your lender being the most used sources.
Thank you. I guess I probably fall into the category of people who yell "why is this credit scoring system so jacked up?!!" It's a conspiracy I tell you!! lol
