Good evening! I did a google search about something credit related and stumbled on this forum. I read the post then started browsing a bit. Ive seen forums for all manner of hobbies but i had no idea there were credit forums. From what i can see you all share credit score increase victories and new credit limits and lines of credit is that correct? While im here i might as well ask my question, though its equifax related. I know this is a fico forum so i hope my first post isnt out of line too much. A couple weeks ago i financed a new vehicle. I got a letter in the mail from equifax that said my credit is 816. I knew it was over 800 but what caught my attention was it said the max is 818 and i thought the max is 850. So is that a typo?

Re: Forum

Welcome to the forum!  Yes, there are forums out there for everything Smiley Happy

Regarding the scoring range, it isn't giving you a classic FICO 08 which can go to 850.  It could be a bank version which I believe several only go to 818.  Others on this forum can definitely chime in and be more specific, but the bottom line is that it depends on the exact scoring model being used.

That would be an EQ-04 score (aka Equifax FICO Score 5 or Equifax Beacon 5.0).  You can read more about all the different FICO versions at http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Understanding-FICO-Scoring/The-many-flavors-of-FICO-Editions-versions-and-variations/td-p/1197617
