Frustrating Experian Issue

(not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this)

Discover shut down my secured card and replaced it due to fraud on the card. On EQ and TU my Discover tradeline disappeared until the next statement print, but not on Experian. Unfortunately that month due to the fraud that was done on the card, my card reported at about 124% utilization over the credit limit. This was my 6/20 statement; when my 7/20 statement cut, all three bureaus showed my new balance at $12 out of $1,200, but Experian now showed that I had 2 Discover tradelines, one with a 1% utilization and one with a 124% utilization (and closed) which was the card that Discover shut down. Fast forward to 8/20, TU & EQ both are correctly reporting the 1 Discover card at $0 balance, but Experian is still reporting 2 cards and the 124% is putting me at about 35% total util when it should have been zero'ed out.

I contacted Discover when I first noticed the issue a few weeks after the card was shut down, and they told me it can take 60 days for them to go through a full cycle of reporting with the credit bureaus, so I just waited; not really applying for anything major during that time. 60 days have passed since the card closure date (6/23), and they still haven't updated the account with Experian, everywhere else it shows fine. I contacted discover on 8/21 and the rep advised me to dispute with Experian as they are not actively reporting that account. On 8/22 I sent a dispute to Experian via overnight mail, and today I got an email notification (I have their creditworks subscription), that my dispute was completed and closed. When I view the results, it says that they validated the tradeline with the 124% utilization and that it came back as accurate so they will not be deleting.

How should I proceed? I obviously have my statement from Discover showing the payment I made being transferred from one account to the other, should I send a copy of that?

Re: Frustrating Experian Issue

A couple of questions

1. Do you have documentation on the fraud on the Discover card ?

2. What reason did you used when you disputed it at Experian?

Re: Frustrating Experian Issue

1. I only have my statement where they show a “credit transfer” for the money they put back on the original card. Discover discovered the fraud before I did, they closed my card and called me to tell me a new one was on the way and I had no clue.

2. I disputed it with Experian as a duplicate account

Re: Frustrating Experian Issue

I owuld dispute this again with Experian and tell them the account # was closed due to fraud and replaced with this account #. You can also show them that Discover reimbursed you for those charges plus the payment for those charges that were not fraud.
