HELP ME FIND IT

Where do you find a list of the point system on how many points you can get on your credit report score?

Also what web site can you check your credit score on every month and your credit score will not drop just for checking up on how well your credit is doing,

Re: HELP ME FIND IT

any time that you personally are looking at your credit report, it will not show up as an inquiry, & your score will not drop.  you could check it every single day if you wanted.  there are tons of websites, including here.

as far as your other question, i don't understand.  i believe the scale goes from 300 or 350 up to 850.  but there is no specific list saying You lose X points for such-and-such.

Re: HELP ME FIND IT

There are plenty of places to find a "credit score." Almost all are what we call FAKO's --scores rarely or never used by lenders, and therefore pretty useless. These include Vantage scores, PLUS scores, scores directly from TransUnion and Experian, scores from freecreditreport-dot-com, from TrueCredit, from CreditSecure, from CreditCheckTotal, from Chase, from BofA, you name it.

Most lenders use FICO scores, and these are the ones we talk about here.

To get your Equifax FICO score:
- here at the myFICO site: http://www.myfico.com/Products/Products.aspx
- directly from Equifax: http://www.equifax.com/credit-product-list/ (Make sure you're clicking on a product that specifically says FICO score. And any scores they give for TU and EX will be FAKO's.)

To get your TransUnion FICO score:
- here at the myFICO site: http://www.myfico.com/Products/Products.aspx
- from transunioncs-dot-com (note the -cs; that's very important!) www.transunioncs.com (Again, any scores they might give you for EQ and EX will be FAKO's.) This product is the same thing as the FICO Quarterly Monitoring product that you can buy here at myFICO.com

To get your Experian FICO score:
- You can't buy it anywhere, as of February 13, 2009, and this includes from their site.
You can find it out if you apply for a mortgage, which is a bit extreme, or if you belong to PSECU, a credit union in Pennsylvania which most here on the forums can't qualify for.
Any other EX credit score is a FAKO, unless more banks and CU's pick up on the option to offer their customers their EX FICO scores.

FICO scores will cost you, wherever you get them from. The combination I use is to get ScoreWatch here to monitor my Equifax FICO (although SW can be a bit erratic, there's a discount on score pulls) and the Suze Orman kit from here, where you prepay for 3 FICO scores and reports and pull whichever score you want, whenever you want. TU's pretty useless where I live, although it goes back and forth with EX in being my best score, so I use Suze to pull TU maybe every other month or so. More frequently when I have a lot of stuff happening, less frequently when everything's just sort of cooking along.

One advantage of these is that your scores and reports display longer than those from FICO Standard.
* Credit is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master. * Who's the boss --you or your credit?
FICO's: EQ 781 - TU 793 - EX 779 (from PSECU) - Done credit hunting; having fun with credit gardening. - EQ 590 on 5/14/2007

Re: HELP ME FIND IT

You will NEVER get a published "list" of the specific impact of anything you do on your FICO credit score, so if you have been looking for that, dont waste your time.  You wont find it anywhere!

Fair Isaac only discloses, for good reasons, broad advice.  The specific impact is their corporate trade secret that is embedded in their dozen or so different scoring algorithms.. No one can even tell you whiich specific algorithm (bucket) you are scored under, and what are the criteria used to place you in any one algorithm. Their business is to sell scores, not to publish lists so that you can do it yourself.

It is like asking, "Where can I get the trade secret formula for Coca-Cola, so I can make my own?"

That is why this forum is so neat.  We can only offer anecdotal advice on our own experiences.

We can only give our experiences, and not exactitude.
