Re: HELP WITH SCORE PLEASE!!!!!

Thanks Lynette. I did finally find the page. It says that the collection is hurting the most so I will again pursue getting that removed. If it is dispurted by the Reporting agencies the collection company has 30 days to respond or it gets removed. However, For what ever reason these folks wont let it go. I have disputed it so many times that the reporting agencies won't dispute it anymore. I contacted equidata and they are pigs. I also went up the chain of command at comcast and since it is so old they no longer have record of it. I tried to have them contact equidata and they said that since they no longer have record of it they have no information to give them. Basically... I am screwed. The collection shows first reporting in October of 2004.

It then lists the Balcance ratio of 36%. I used the stimulator and it says if I paid them off within the next 24mo that my score would be 750-790 I tried to show paying them off in 6mo and it had no effect in the stimulator.

The third issue was age of accounts. My oldest is 14 yrs my average is four years.  I really have a hard time with this. I pay my bills and use credit responsibly. I should have no issue being in the 700 club.

My wife (soon to be ex) has never paid a bill  on time in her life.. Hense why I have all of the debt because her credit hurt us so bad. Anyway, Now that everything is over seven years old she has perfect credit. What a Hoot!

I have never used the simulator, but I understand it can be kind of funky. It certainly is not an exact science. Your score will go up the faster you pay your utilization down. In the 24 mo scenario, for example, that considers that your accounts are aging as you go.

As for age of accounts, I'm thinking with an oldest account that is 14 years old, they may want to see you boost your average age of accounts. The key there is not to add any new accounts. Adding accounts will lower that AAoA. Only apply for new credit after much thought and research. Patience is key to raising that AAoA.

It doesn't hurt to keep at the Comcast account. As I said before, list all the specifics of that account and the following collection account on the Rebuilding forum. Also, if the first reporting of the collection was in Oct. of 2004, that means your date of first delinquency (DOFD) with Comcast was before that. It should drop off at 7 years from your date of first delinquency....so, you may not have to live with that account as long as you think. When did you first go late with Comcast? That is your date of first delinquency.

That is certainly ironic about your soon-to-be-ex's credit. When you're not around to pay the bills, her credit may head south again. You are not joint with her on anything, are you? Remember, creditors don't care what a divorce decree says. If your name is on any of her accounts, you are responsible for payment. (I have the feeling that's not news to you....)

Re: HELP WITH SCORE PLEASE!!!!!

No. she is not joint on anything with me. In fact I purchased a Car in 2003 (long since paid and gone) and we put her on for the SPECIFIC reason of her gaining history. That was the only joint account I had with her and have never had since. But.. it shows paid as agreed and all is good. So her score is probably well into the 700 range. AUGHHHHH!!!! I hate these things.. I did just get off the phone with the equidata folks and.. As usual they refuse to remove it. I am going to call Comcast and see when the DOD was. The report does not show that. However the last time I called Comcast they had no record of the account.

To get the "date of first delinquency" data, you need to pull your credit report directly from the credit bureau...it's not in the myFICO or any other 3rd party reports.

If you haven't pulled all 3 of your annual free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com, you may want to pull one of them. Two of the 3 (TU, EQ, EX) have the actual date of first delinquency listed, and then you add 7 years from that. The 3rd company shows you the actual drop-off date. That way you can find out for sure how long you will be dealing with this.

I know this is frustrating, time-consuming work. It is worth it in the end.
