HP W/no Point Loss

I didn't think It was possible to have a hard pull with ZERO point loss. I wasted a hard pull on TransUnion for a HELOC, and my score stayed the same at 771 TransUnion only. HP is already reporting.

I'm happy about this, but still pleasantly surprised. No new account.

Also, my UTI increased from 27% agg to 29% aggregate. Still, ZERO point loss.

Any thoughts on this? Thank you for your input!

Re: HP W/no Point Loss

After a certain number of inquiries you stop getting dinged for them. How many do you have?

not every HP will lead to a point loss and as said before, you can max out on inquires and pretty much make sure that inquires won't ding your score moving forward

I don't have any scoreable inquiries. That's the first inquiry since my Chase inquiry from a year ago.

That May one from last year is also scoreable for 9 more days as to my knowledge, Experian is the only bureau that doesn't process these things by day and rather does it at the beginning of the month. You don't always get a ding from every inquiry though, I've seen that with my own profile.

Re: HP W/no Point Loss

Congrats on the zero point loss. Hopefully it will last.

There are 5 things to know about HPs:

1. With Fico 8 there is a 30 day buffer before an installment based inquiry dings score.

2. Multiple inquiries for an auto loan or a mortgage within a 45 day timeframe are Deduped to count as 1 by Fico 8/9. The dedupe period is 14 days for the older "mortgage" Ficos

3. There is a saturation point where additional inquires won't impact score. That number is around 10.

4. I have read that multiple codes exist for hard inquiries. It was further stated that there may be no penalty for select codes.

5. There are a handful of threads on the forum discussing QTY binning (grouping) of HPs. There is no penalty unless the added INQ pushes total QTY to a higher bin. Examples are: 0, 1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10 or more.

* There have been mixed results from testing QTY increases/decreases to establish bins.

IMO - the 30 day buffer may be at play for the OP. Keep a lookout for a delayed score drop and report back.

Re: HP W/no Point Loss

Every hard pull I had on TU showed points loss after 30 days unlike the other two CRAs. Give it some time, you'll see the points loss
