Hard Inquiries after 12 months.

Hello,

Do the credit score reduction from Hard Inquiries are restored after 12 months?  I know Hard Inquiries take 24 months to fall off completely. Just wondering if scores can come back sooner.

Thank you.

Re: Hard Inquiries after 12 months.

They stop being a scoring factor in FICO scores after 12 months, but they count against you for the full 24 months on Vantage scores.

Also keep in mind that your FICO score won't necessarily gain the exact number of points back when the inquiry hits 1 year old as your AAoA won't be the same and other factors such as revolving utilization.

Re: Hard Inquiries after 12 months.

Data shows that, although inquiries drop off of your reports at 24 months, all points are returned at 12 months.  If you lost 8 points due to a hard inquiry; 8 points will be returned in 12 months.

Re: Hard Inquiries after 12 months.

It was about 3 to 6 points per inquiry across the big 3 for me. I observed the difference over a year.

Really thankful for a few worthless CC applications that I should have stayed away from

There are really only 3 to 5 cards you need for anything. The rest are popularized by youtubers.
