I applied and was approved yesterday for a Penfed PL and they pulled EX. I logged in this morning and the Inq is there (I now have 8 within the last 2 years) but I lost no points. How can that be? Is there just a delay in the score decrease or would it have shown up today? Also, odd is I received 2 new Amex cards back in April, One of which I closed bc I never actually wanted the card and it was a crap limit and to this day I dont know how I got it bc I must have clicked on something while searching the site. Anyway the 2 new accounts showed up the other day one open one closed and score hasnt moved. So strange!

1. Welcome to the forum.
2. No, FICO has not been becoming more forgiving.
3. An inquiry does not always cause a point loss. Inquiries are often bundled. Only inquiries during the last year are factored into the scoring algorithms.
4. Opening a new account does not always cause a point loss. If there is a point loss, the negative effect often dissipates.

Fico allocates a certain number of points to each of its categories. Each category has a variety of attributes or factors that are evaluated and scored.
There are a limited number of points associated with each attribute. So, you may have reached a saturation point overall or within a particular inquiry bin.
Btw - there was a thread a few years back where posters listed # inquiries they had in the last 12 months. Someone reported over 60 on a CRA. Their Fico score was mid 700s as I recall. Just imagine if each inquiry would have cost 5 points => 300 point loss.
