I know there are going to be variances in scores but I can't, for the life of me understand why there is a 103 point difference between my Fico 8 and my Fico Auto 2 scores. That's a massive difference. My wife, who has virtually the same credit history as I do has a similar Fico 8 score in the 690s but her Fico Auto2 score is 720!
There are other scores that are off by as much as 60. Again these are Fico scores and not Vantage scores.
They've been off like this for close to 3 years.

I have always had much lower scores on the older scoring models. My personal feeling is that those accounts more heavily punish newness and credit seeking, the two major attributes which have characterized my profile since I've been watching my credit scores. I have a feeling that if I applied for no new credit for the next three years they'd be more on a par with my FICO 8's and 9's.
You’re exactly right SJ. Actually it wouldn't take that long.

In my case it might take even longer
I'm in a dirty scorecard, so take that for what's it worth - the newer algos like my profile MUCH more than the old ones. My AU5/4/2 are ~700, the AU8s ~720, the AU9s ~760. No scoreable inquiries, no new accounts. For me it feels like the older models penalize more for deliquency. I was never late on an installment loan, so maybe that is looked at.
@Anonymous when you say "virtually the same credit history", maybe it would be easier to focus on the differences between you and your wife's profiles. Zero in on where you are losing points.

When I say virtually, I mean we share cards, loans, and everything else. About 2 years ago we filed form chap 7 and at that time we had all the same revolving accounts and installment loans. Any late payments then affected us both. Since then our history is perfect. No missed/late pays. We both have under 20% utilization of cards and the same amount of available credit as we are authorized users on each other's cards. The only difference, I would say, are the number of inquiries and new accounts. I have 4 new cards in the last 12 months and she has 1. I already had a higher amount of inquiries than she did before then.
So the biggest difference I guess is new accounts and inquiries and apparently that makes a bigger difference on older scores.

Indeed it does. Age of newest account, average age of accounts, inquiries... those are the kind of things which I believe plague my older model scores.
OP, I'm curious as to the presence or lack of an auto loan or loans (open or closed) on your report verses your wife.
