6 years oldest account, AAoA 4y, 5 revolving accounts, one charge card EX doesn't count. Util around 1%.
Highest last year was 785.
Nice going! Congrats on the pretty number!
Do you know your FICO 04 score by chance?
Yeah. Actually the other two came in the next day as a result of the same balance update and puts al of them in the 800s:
EX:800, EQ:801, TU:809

Nice! Those are FICO 08 scores. Do you know your FICO 04 scores by chance?
Nope. Have no idea what the FICO 4 scores are but I didn't see any appreciable differences back when MyFico changed.

Good to know. Your file must be thick enough for FICO 08 and FICO 04 to not deviate much from each other! I think you're killing this credit thing.
I'm going to be realistic and admit defeat. The mortgage inquiries hit my FICO scores harder than I had anticipated, bringing them to the 760 range even without the mortgage reported. I guess I'll have to wait at least till mid-2015 to have another shot at 800. I did get close, though not as close as the Seahawks were to the Super Bowl this year.
I thought I'd share where I'm standing right now instead of 800 FICO. I pulled my Equifax report from MyFICO today. While my FICO 08 score of 758 is no longer close to 800, I'm delighted that my FICO 04 went above 740 for the first time ever, narrowing the gap with my FICO 08 to a mere 17 points as opposed to almost 50 points when I started this challenge.
A couple of observations:
- If having 2 credit inquiries within the last year is the second negative factor for FICO 08, then there really isn't a second negative factor. The only real shortfall is the length of credit history.
- If 2 credit accounts with balances, one being an installment loan, is too many, then the reason must be totally made up.
- I can't believe "too few or too many" is a reason. Why can't the system tell me which one, too few or too many, is the reason???
- Apparently, the number of revolving accounts is a FICO scoring factor.
- Apparently, having a recently opened account is a negative factor apart from the impact on AAoA which is included in the length of credit history category.
Bump for update?

Thanks for the bump! I haven't paid attention to my FICO scores lately; I doubt it's already 800. At the end of the year when my mortgage inquiries drop off, I will focus on maximizing my scores again. I also applied for a couple of credit cards in January this year; when the inquiries drop off early next year, I expect an 800.
In about a month, after my inquiries drop off and my history length reaches 4 years, I'll try for the 800 again.
I slipped a little last month, so I still have a few credit cards that report positive balances. I will clear them (but one, of course), and see if I can reach for the stars. I have paid off my auto loan balance though, so my score may suffer a bit; I don't know if the mortgage will negate the negative impact of closing my auto loan. Here is where I'm standing:
FICO 8 from Equifax Score Watch: 764
FICO 8 from Barclaycard: 776
24 more points to go ...
