Re: HiLine's quest to 800 FICO

Lost 3 points on Equifax for the closure of the auto loan. Not sure if I can make 800 in a month now ...

Re: HiLine's quest to 800 FICO

Hey guys I wanted to provide a long overdue update... I basically determined that it was not really possible to achieve 800 with 3 years of credit history. In fact, it took me another 3 years to nearly hit the mark. Granted, during this time I also obtained (and then closed) a mortgage, and also closed my auto loan, so my credit profile was not as optimal as I had planned to make it. As soon as my credit length turned from 5 years to 6 years, I got a 26!!! point bump. My current score stands at 799 with 3 accounts reporting a positive balance, so I am 100% certain that next month after I pay off the balance for 2 of the 3 accounts I'll be over 800, and that will be the end of this prolonged journey. Congrats! Would you mind posting few more of your stats? AAoA, AOA, AYA, and how many new accounts in the last year maybe? I'm a few years behind you and curious to see how long I'll have to wait!

Re: HiLine's quest to 800 FICO

Yeah, the AAoA and age of oldest account are really tough hurdles to overcome and these are the points that are needed to propel you into the 800s.

To build a thick file you need to apply for a lot of accounts in a short period of time which kills your AAoA and the only way to have an old account is to wait for time to pass!

You however, have done a great job in setting yourself up for the future! You acquired a lot of good CCs and accounts and took care of them. You built a rock solid foundation that will benefit you for the rest of your life just by paying your bills on time. Because you have so many accounts your AAoA is becoming bulletproof. You will be able to apply for any credit from here on out and not have to worry about the new credit lowering your scores much and your scores will bounce back faster. You can now live life and not have to worry about credit!

Next stop is the 850s for you! I bet that by just paying your bills on time and keeping UTI under control you have a good shot at hitting 850 in the next 2 to 3 years.

You really have done an outstanding job in a short period of time! You just set the bar too high to start. It just required a little more time!

Congrats on the 800!!!

Starting Score: EQ 653 6/21/12
Current Score: EQ 817 3/10/20 - EX 820 3/13/20 - TU 825 3/03/20
