How accurate is Credit Karma

I have recently been building my credit over the last year.  I spend 8 years not using credit and subsiquently I had no credit history due to my student loans being my only credit and them having fallen off my credit report after they were paid off.  I got a secured card a year ago and started checking my credit when I started getting offers in the mail for additional cards.  I got a Capital one card when I had a 655 score and I got an auto loan when my score was 663, both trans union.  I saw my credit karma score raise up to 688 but my capital one card said it was still 656.  I applied for a credit limit increase and after the review I got a limit increase from 1300 to 5000.  I really don't have any idea where my credit score is.  Credit Karama says my trans union is at 709, I paid for free credit score.com and it says my score on experian is 610.  Capital one says my credit score is 656 on my monthly statement.  Credit sesamy says my experian score is 660.  What is the most accurate of any of these scores?  I don't want to keep having to pay for my credit score.  I just want to know when It is safe to apply for a prime credit card like American express or Discover IT.  Any infromation is helpfull.

Re: How accurate is Credit Karma

I wouldn't rely on any FAKO scores.

It's better to pay the $$$ occasionally to get a real score.

I'd also suggest looking at this link:

http://www.myfico.com/crediteducation/whatsinyourscore.aspx

It describes what makes up a credit score, and from this you can figure out what is likely to move your scores up or down over time.
