How close to 850 with no balances?

How high of a score have you had at the baseline? FICO says I have no balances reporting with an EQ 08 of 844, which today increased to 846 for probably no other reason than time has passed, so four points to go and wondering.

Not sure what "at the baseline" means.

Re: How close to 850 with no balances?

The baseline refers to $0 revolving debt, a 0% utilization. Your file is already clean, no dirt of any kind such as lates; by stripping away this remaining variable, the last layer of dust, you have arrived at the baseline, against which comparisons can be made. You will know say the difference in points between zero and one balance reporting.

Re: How close to 850 with no balances?

So you are interested in the difference in your FICO 08 score between zero cards reporting a balance and one card reporting a balance?

Well, you'll know the difference between zero and one balance, for that one particular profile.  If the profile had exactly 1 card on it, you'll get a different point difference than if the profile had two cards on it.  And if it has two cards on it the point difference might well be different than if it has 5 cards.

Furthermore, even if you had two profiles with the exact same number of credit cards, you might well get two different point differences if the two profiles were in different scorecards.  That is, the penalty for being at all zero might well be scorecard specific.

If (as per your subject header) you are looking for people who can get their score very close to 850 with all cards reporting $0, you might be awfully limited on conversation partners.  Basically it will be people who already have an 850 when they have exactly one balance showing.  So you, Thom Thumb, few other peoiple on here.  And the conversation will ultimately be about exploring how big the buffer is at the top.  (I.e. is it 850-865?  With all scores above 850 being truncated to 850 that is.)

Re: How close to 850 with no balances?

I discussed this with my profile a few nonths back [zero revolving CCs reporting a balance, 0% utilization]. My Classic Fico 8 scores remained at 850 across the board. However, my Bankcard Fico 8 scores all dropped relative to one credit card reporting a balance. In this situation a credit card account that I am listed as AU on did report a balance but, Fico 8 does not consider this account in its analysis of my profile. I no longer have an AU card. The account is very active (DW uses as the primary card for household purchases) but, I last used my AU card over 10 years ago.

 [see pastes below]

Side note: Comparative analysis between Fico 8 Enhanced score movement and non movement of corresponding Classic scores suggests Fico 8 has a buffer up to 25 points.

Re: How close to 850 with no balances?

So on a "perfect" file can 850 be achieved with all 0 balances reported (0 revolving debt) because enough of a buffer may exist say "865" that once the score hit is taken for zero revolving debt one can still be at 850?  As CGID stated, there are likely very few people that are able to comment on this from first hand experience.

Thanks for the clarification, good to know. That one individual made 850 on $0 is enough!

TT...some company called credit solution program keeps sending me e-mails promising a 116 point boost...guaranteed. In the body it even promises 160 points. Considering my Fico 08 scores range from 806-816 this would be quite a trick...966-976. I suppose yours would all be over 1000...hahahaSmiley Very Happy
