How do you figure out CC reporting dates for scoring and utilization?

I got a SW alert yesterday for a 19 point loss on EQ! They said the reason was due to an increased balance. Junny SeaMiles reported a $200 higher balance and I guess that set it over the edge [BTW, the balance reported is not a statement balance, but rather the balance due to Junny on that day they reported to EQ, yesterday?]. I just PIF 5 of 7 CCs, but Junny wasn't one of them. I'm sure the other 5 haven't reported yet. On paper, I am at 20% utilization with the remainder going away next week.

How do you'all figure out what day your CC reports? Some say that the due date is usually the report date. In Junny's case, it is not due until next week.

I pull twice a month (1st and 15th) and can get a 15 day range, but other than that, how else can I tell?

Juniper is HSBC, and HSBC reports at the end of the month. I don't know if "at the end" means last business day, last calendar day, roundabout the end of the month, or what.

Pretty much everyone else reports on the statement date. There is still something weird about AmEx that hasn't sunken into me yet, since I'm not in the AmEx Army. They may or may not report the previous month's balance.

There are some wacko individual cases out there of odd reporting. Discover posted twice for us in December, costing us some points. Brammy had a store card that updated at the regular time, but reported the highest balance through the month, that she had already paid. I think that was a once-shot deal. My idiot WFNNB-backed J.Crew card won't even generate a statement unless I owe them, and it takes them up to six weeks to do that, and then they don't update again after I pay them off, so I have to dispute the balance.

Re: How do you figure out CC reporting dates for scoring and utilization?

Thanks for the input.

I did find another way to figure out reporting dates. I think you can use SW alerts when balances go up to figure out when those cards reported. Unfortunately, I have a limited history and limited number of alerts, but there were alerts due to BofA and Credit One and both of them reported within a day of each other. Consistent.

Orchard (HSBC) reported on 12/10 and 11/15. Dates are off and there wasn't a weekend in play. Iffy.

Juniper is all over the map: 10/12 & 11/15 & 2/8.

I still have 3 others cards (all store) that haven't reported at all via SW, even with balances. Though, in fairness, I haven't used them but 5 times between all of them since October.

Maybe the only way to get an accurate date is to pull everyday. Is FICO publically traded? I might as well get some sort of return.

Juniper is Barclays and reports the statement balance a day after the statement cuts, just like Chase and my CU.

Scorewatch can take days to update you!!  And don't forget - most CCCs reort to all three on the same day, but it can take a week for all 3 CRAs to actually put this into your report.  So don't confuse the day it is reported to the CRA with the day the CRA actually reports it.

I have been waiting a week for EX to update my Amex card.  TU has been known to take several weeks to get itself up to date!

Thanks! I wasn't sure, so I Googled juniper hsbc, and the hits seemed to indicate that it was hsbc, but now I remember you saying barclays.

I swear, they're all in bed together, and no one but they are getting any fun out of it! Smiley Mad

I'm obsessing too much. I'll keep CCs at 10% or less and all would be AOK. Yep..TU hasn't updated my car loan since October and hasn't updated my CCs since December.

Re: How do you figure out CC reporting dates for scoring and utilization?

I was still worried about the 19 pt loss though. It seemed excessive for a CC reporting $200 more. I know I could have hit a new tier, for a lack of a better word, but it seemed high since all other CCs were PIF, except for 1. I was worried that there might be something else so I pulled just now.

My score just shot back up 20 points from a deficit of 19 leaving a net gain of 1. The other CCs do show PIF, with the exception of the two.

All has recovered.

For the record, util went down from 55% (2/1) to 34% (2/10) on EQ to produce the 20 point increase, but may also include positive aging, all else being equal.
