Long time lurker, first time poster.
Started at a new job two months ago, back in August 2015. Check MyFICO account today, and I see that as of the Sept. update, TU knows who my employer is: http://cl.ly/image/1R0Q3X2K1u3M
My question is, quite simply, how does TU know where I work? How would they gather that information and so quickly? I have not filed taxes or anything in the 2 months between getting the job and them having it in their records.
Does this information impact my credit score in any way? Does TU report this to lenders when they pull up my account?
They normally get the information based on a loan application you have made. It transfers from the credit card company to the CRA.
Have you applied for any credit anywhere since you got your new job?
I don't know about work specifically, but they also get information (e.g., your address) when you update it with your existing creditors.

Now that you mention it, I did tell a Discover CSR over the phone where I worked and what my new income was in order to get a CLI. And Discover pulls TU, so that's likely how that information made it's way into my credit report.
Does information like this have any impact on credit score?

Your employment information doesn't affect your score in any way.

100% true,... but needs further clarification since people often relate credit score as the silver bullet and only factor to gaining credit.. Employment does not affect score in anyway but two months on the job may affect your ability to gain credit.
