So I've been noticing when check my FICO scores and my scores from the lenders I keep getting this one message about why my score is still in the "good" range. I have been declined a cli from Amex and Cap1 cc. Sometimes this shows as the reason and sometimes it doesn't.
I also suspect FICO9 utilizing this as a major setback since my F9 is only 645. My F8 are between 676-691.
Key Factor affecting your FICO® Score
![]() | Serious delinquency FICO® Scores consider the presence of a serious delinquency (very late payment) on a person's credit report as a powerful predictor of future payment risk. Your score was impacted because your credit report shows one or more serious delinquencies. |
Keep in mind: People with previous late payments are much more likely to pay late in the future, and tend to be viewed as risky to lenders. Most late payments stay on a person's credit report for up to seven years. |
This is stemmimg from 3 lates on my Cap1 auto loan (30-30-60)that occured back in Dec 2016. How long will this affect my score? To what amount is this affecting my score.
I have no other lates or collection accounts either. This is my only baddie and its killing my credit dreams
30s tend to hurt for 2 years, 60s can hurt the entire 7 years they are on record. I would request GW removal of the lates.
OUCH!
My auto loan will be paid off in 3 months but I know that this doesnt matter because even when the account is closed it will still be reporting. I know if I didn't have these lates I would be in the 700 range by now.
Ive tried GW several times even spoke with CEO assistant after emailing him....but unfortunately Cap1 has not been forgiving of me. Emailed, sent letters, called ....and nothing. I've given up on them. I was thinking to try again once its paid off.
It can at times take dozens of requests or even 100 to get the answer you want to hear, so if you've only asked a handful of times you probably have a bunch more to go. Just keep at it and be persistent!
