You say when my sons get older? LOL  How old is older? My oldest son is 24 and I still get those blank looks from him.

I'd hold off. I'd argue that any secured loan, well any loan secured or otherwise, will hurt your FICO scores in the short-term (year or less) and in the long run, will either help just a little (single points) or hurt (also in the single digits). YMMV based on your credit profile of course.
