Is there a way to avoid losing points from inquiries by waiting a certain amount of time between them? And in which situations do inquiries have more or less of an impact on the score (other than inquries from over 12 months ago)?
if you need a product, be it loan or CC - then my opinion is to app for it without being concerned about the Hard Inq
some recommend only apping every 6 months
some recommend apping for 2-3 items at the same time
for a new account, there are 3 factors - not just the Inq
New Account
ReCalc of AAoA (lowering average age due to the new one)
Inq (possibly multiple)
in this case, the Inq is the least of the 3 items impact wise

I think you are right about all of that. If i need the credit, I should apply anyway regardless of the impact of a hard inquiry, and yes, the negetive impact of a new account and lowering the AAoA is probably higher. However, I'm asking for education purposes because my file is a bit thin, and I'm going to apply for some more cards soon, and I want to do it wisely.
i think each Inq would drop you 2-5 pts
