My scores are low 700's and I have one negative that will fall off in October 2021. I have 14 credit cards almost 70K in credit and I am curious - what is the road to an 800 credit score? I'm already a homeowner. I have 1 late payment from 1 year and 10 months ago. Can someone please give me some good advice to the road to 800?
thanks
I would start a goodwill campaign on that late payment from a year and 10 months ago.
Ok I will write a letter to the lender - Am I asking them to reverse the late payment? Delete it? What should I say? The entire loan was paid off prior to me purchasing my home.

Maybe post about the lender and the late payment in a separate thread over in the rebuilding section. See if anyone has had any success with goodwill attempts to them specifically. The reason I suggested it is because you're not likely going to ever see an 800 FICO 8 score with any lates on your profile. I don't think it's necessarily impossible, but you'd have to have an incredibly optimized profile in every other metric.

1. Try to get rid of the late.
2. Try to have most of your revolving accounts report zero balances.
What are your long-term goals? You said you're a homeowner. Is there another large purchase in your future? If you can't get the Late deleted, you're gonna have to wait until it drops off. It will become less impactful over time though. As one poster stated, try to maximize every other category as see what happens. Why don't you shoot for 750 first, then 800? Simply put, there's no quick fix.

Wishing you success in traveling the 800 road and reaching your goal.
