I can't figure out this score drop

My utilization hasn't been great lately, so my scores had been in the 650 range. I had utilization around 74%, but I managed to get a cli from Amazon of $3,000. My utilization went down to 47%, and my scores went up just passed 700... For about an hour. Right after equifax went down by 73 points, and transunion went down by 56 points. Never a late payment, zero inquiries in 2 years, and no new accounts.

The only things out of the norm was an inquiry from a year from synchrony for Amazon that they said was a mistake and removed it. Also an app for futurepay where they goofed and ran my shipping address as my mailing address so it got stopped for fraud. I checked, and there are no inquiries resulting from it.

Could either of those 2 things have dropped scores that much? I can't think of any other reason it would go up that much, then down even more right away.

The way to check is compare the reports side by side. Perhaps a very old closed account dropped off. Other thing could be a rebucket

Re: I can't figure out this score drop

My Amazon account has the account insurance thing, I forget what they call it. I spent almost to the limit one month, and didn't account for it, so it put me like $4 over the limit. The cli on Amazon went well passed that. What else could cause a rebucket?

I'm assuming it's something to do with Amazon or the fraudulent goof. My wife is an AU on everything except Amazon, and her score didn't drop at all.

The changes showed on credit karma, credit sesame, and capital one.

Those are all Vantage scores, which very few lenders use and which fluctuate wildly. Don't worry about it

Ok. I was planning on paying down my current cards, and applying for some better ones. I figured zero inquiries in the last 2 years is a long enough garden period.

Re: I can't figure out this score drop

I'd suggest getting the 7 day trial from creditchecktotal.com for your actual FICO 08 scores, unless you plan on getting a car loan or mortgage in the near future. In that case, I'd suggest getting your scores from here as MyFico provides those scores.

Re: I can't figure out this score drop

Will getting the real fico 08 scores cause an inquiry?

Re: I can't figure out this score drop

No. Any time you pull your reports or scores it's a soft pull which can't be seen by anyone but you.
