I feel so defeated!

So I have been patiently ( or trying to be paitent) waiting for one of my collections to be deleted.  I was hoping that it would raise my EX score at least 10 points.  One of the reasons I really was wanting the score to increase was because I took a 30 point hit on my EX score because when our Cap 1 balance was reported.  I didn't know that my husband had ordered some business supplies and it of course hit and raised the balance.  So what I thought would be reported and what was reported was a 50% increase.  So that bummed me out when I saw that.

So I was really excited on Friday evening when I ran my Truecredit update to see that the collection had been removed from my TU report.  So I went ahead and ordered my TU and EX FICO score to see if I had an increase and also wanted to see if the collection came off my report on EX.  Well no change in either one of my scores.  I am so crushed and just feel defeated.  I worked so hard to get that PFD.

I know people say you may not see a score increase with a collection being removed.  I thought there was a good shot I would.  For one I only have two collections this one was the newest one and had been reported in December 08.

I have a question on the decrease in score from the Cap 1 balance.  I get it down to the 5% balance for when it reports next month will that increase my score back up as long as my other balances stay low as well?

Re: I feel so defeated!

You probably got a few points for the collection coming off, but the high util offset it. Get it back down to 5% and you should get your points back, all other things being equal.

Re: I feel so defeated!

Don't feel so bad about it. Same thing happened to me when I removed one of my last collection accounts on my credit report. My score dropped 10 points when I thought my score would dramatically increase. I did some research on why my score dropped. I came to the conclusion that my collection account was one of my older accounts and decreased my average age of accounts which resulted in my score dropping. Sometimes things don't appear as bad as they might look. The good thing is that the next month my score jumped 20 points due to paying my bills on time. I'm sure next month you'll have an increase in your score.

Good luck!

Re: I feel so defeated!

I'm pretty sure CA accounts aren't factored into your AAOA.

Also, You'll see the biggest score jump when your last collection falls off. You'll be able to gain more points without those negatives on your report. It's like you have a higher ceiling basically.

Re: I feel so defeated!

Thanks for the responses.  I don't think I received any points for the deletion because my score dropped before the CA came off.  I am just going to keep doing what I have been so that maybe things will turn around.

Re: I feel so defeated!

Maybe, maybe not. You said that the CRAs reported higher util, which usually results in a point decrease (at least it works that way for me, when I cross one of those thresholds). So, the fact that your score didn't change, could/might indicate that there was an offset from your brand new collection being removed.
